The output of vol c: provides the volume label for the c: drive. This volume label depends on the name given to the drive when Boot Camp was initially set up. If the volume is named Windows, the the command output would say: Volume in drive C is Windows. You will need to type this volume name in the next command sequence.
Because the conversion must take place with full control over the partition, the next prompt asks:. As the system reboots, the blue screen will appear and text will appear asking if you would like to skip the disk check. Do not skip this check as it will often find problems and repair them, which will be important to be completed before converting to NTFS. Disk check can take minutes depending on the size of the partition. Following disk check, the conversion process will begin. Progress should appear in white text on a blue screen, duration of the process depends on the number of files and folders and the size of the partition.
After conversion, the system will automatically restart and the conversion will be complete. Sorry for the misinformation Carey Frisch. There is no official or Microsoft supported way of doing this.
I have read about it - though never tried it or read that it works for many users. Then the only way is what you mentioned diskpart. Monday, January 7, AM. Thanks guys. Just wanted to mention that I had full success using diskpart off the Window7 boot disc. I think by far that's the best option since it uses Microsoft supported tools, and while it's not "officially" supported for older volumes, NTFS is essentially NTFS so there should be minimal risk.
You should make sure that your computer would not reboot or shut down during converting in case of system crash or causing troubles to the partition. No option for FAT32 file system under format window? You have two options: 1. Here, you can use DiskPart , which is a Windows built-in utility for disk management.
DiskPart is able to perform many operations including partition deletion, partition creation, GPT MBR conversion, and partition formatting once you input corresponding commands. Here, nn is the size in MB, you can create any size based on your own requirement.
Here, I create MB.
